As projects in various engineering sectors become increasingly vast and diverse, the demands for technical expertise are evolving as well. The complexity of some of these projects requires multidisciplinary approaches. To meet ever more ambitious challenges, Can-Explore is establishing its new Engineering Department, now bringing together its specialized engineers in structures, buildings, infrastructure, and hydraulics.
Previously distributed across several service departments within the company, these experts will now be united within a single team. This aligns with the company’s aim to offer even more integrated and efficient solutions to its clients. This strategic reorganization aims to optimize project management, promote internal collaboration, and better meet the growing needs of the sector, where requirements are becoming increasingly varied and complex.

Combining Expertise in a Cross-Functional Approach
The decision to create the Engineering Department resulted from an internal analysis of organizational needs and the growing expectations of clients in the sector. According to Olivier, the integration of the Structure and Building team with the Engineering team occurred naturally.
“We noticed that more and more projects require a cross-functional approach among the different disciplines of our departments. Engineering plays a central role in many of our projects, especially in the building and infrastructure sectors.”
– Olivier Lefebvre, director of the new Engineering department and co-founder of the company.
This reorganization aims to achieve several goals: strengthening the company’s technical expertise, improving team responsiveness, and offering even smoother and more coherent project management. Ultimately, the company aims to provide turnkey solutions to its clients by optimizing the human and material resources available.
Expanded Services for More Comprehensive Solutions
Flow Measurement and Projected Flow Evaluation
Can-Explore, which already offered flow measurement services for wastewater conduits, is now expanding its offerings with the assessment of projected wastewater flow. This service will enable municipalities to better anticipate future needs, a major advantage in the current housing crisis where new construction is essential. With this expertise, Can-Explore aims to become a key player in facilitating urban development while ensuring the sustainability of underground infrastructure.

Moratoriums can be placed on constructing new commercial or residential projects when municipalities require data on the impact of increased demand on their existing infrastructures. Building permits may be suspended until the municipality can verify that its infrastructure network can support the increased demand, highlighting the utility of the projected flow assessment service.
“With the new departmental organization, we can now offer multiple services or expertise within the same project, which is a major advantage for our clients. It simplifies their logistics and represents cost savings, as they don’t necessarily have to engage with multiple firms for a single mandate. I’m thrilled to have new colleagues to collaborate with! It broadens the types of projects we can undertake and presents us with new challenges. It’s truly motivating!”

Customized Strategic Support Service – Consulting Engineering
With the addition of new members and new expertise in the team, Can-Explore is expanding its range of services in urban hydraulics and will now offer tailored strategic support to municipalities. Facing complex challenges related to optimizing their networks, municipalities may find themselves in a difficult position, not always knowing where to start to meet regulatory requirements. The new Engineering Department will now provide enhanced support by offering personalized strategic advice for developing and implementing tailored intervention plans. This service allows for prioritizing actions, optimizing resources, and ensuring effective infrastructure management, contributing to proactive management of urban infrastructure networks.
“We know many municipalities struggle with navigating regulations. It can be difficult to prioritize maintenance actions. Some cities think they must necessarily inspect their entire network or that a complete renovation is inevitable, but that’s not always the case. It’s much more advantageous to prioritize targeted interventions, and our role is precisely to support them by providing a clear strategic vision, backed by concrete data. By guiding them in developing intervention plans suited to their situation, we enable them to optimize their resources and ensure the longevity of their infrastructure.”
— Gabriel, engineer and project manager at Can-Explore.
An Evolution True to Our DNA

This restructuring reflects the company’s ambition to position itself as a key player in the engineering field, while remaining committed to its employees.
With the official creation of the Engineering Department, Can-Explore consolidates its expertise and enhances its ability to offer integrated and efficient services. This reorganization is part of a long-term vision that combines innovation, efficiency, and commitment to sector needs. By focusing on team synergy, Can-Explore is well-positioned to tackle future challenges and continue its growth.
